Fierce Females! Teri, “THE” massage therapist with magic hands!

One of my passionates is to highlight other small businesses, especially when it involves a fierce female in charge!

This blog is about a woman I have known over 2 decades now. We related so much from the beginning in our personal lives. Single moms raising spirited boys! She not only is amazing at being a mom but added bonus… best in her field. Massage.

Please enjoy this Q&A about Teri… and if you yourself are in need of some self car ( we all are!) reach out to her and get on her table ASAP!

WHAT DO YOU SPECIALIZE IN?
Injury treatment massage techniques are my specialty.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS:
I graduated massage school in 2002 and opened my own practice in 2004. So, 20 years now.

WHAT IS YOUR WHY? WHAT MAKES YOU PASSIONATE TO DO WHAT YOU DO?
I love helping people live a vibrant life with little to no pain. I love solving the problem of where did this pain come from, and how do we get rid of it. Watching people come in with an ache or pain, and then leaving without it is the highlight of my day!

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS FROM THIS MOMENT?
I see myself still practicing massage. By then I will have over 48 more hours of continuing education, which will hopefully help my clients become even more pain free.

TELL ME A STORY THAT STICKS OUT IN YOUR MIND THAT YOU ENCOUNTERED ON THE JOB… (FUNNY, HEART FELT, MIND BLOWING… WHATEVER COMES TO YOUR MIND)
I had an older lady from the south who would come see me and she would tell me her aches and pains and then say… but honey I’m not complain’n — just explain’n. Cracked me up! Every. Single. Time.

WHAT IS YOUR ADVIE TO POTENTIAL CLIENTS ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
Communication is key to a great massage. I have had people ask why I ask so many questions; and it is because I want to give you the best massage session every time you are on my table. If your right ankle hurts today, I want to know how it happened to help you recover faster and with the best results possible.

IF YOU DIDN’T DO THIS, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
If I couldn’t practice massage, I would probably go into teaching it. I love that this profession has so many avenues to allow each individual therapist the opportunity to grow and expand into the medical side of things, or to enhance peoples relaxation.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR A SMOOTH INTERACTION WITH YOUR BUSINESS?
I prefer a phone call for our 1st interaction so I can determine if I can be of any help to you and your situation. Texting is just too difficult to ask and get all of the pertinent information. After that initial consultation, texting is a great way to get ahold of me.
I use Massagebook as my preferred professional software, once you are an established client you can choose to book your appointments through this program; or reaching out to me personally is also acceptable.

DO YOU HAVE A MENTOR OR INSPIRATION?
I have so many mentors in my professional life, and feel blessed for every one of them!
My instructor for Thai Yoga Massage, Eric Spivak, is one who comes to mind. Thai Yoga Massage has helped me grow and look at the way the body functions in a whole new way. This really is a way to make massage more 3D for me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE?
I actually love two quotes:

Weather you think you can, or you think you can’t, you are right. By Henry Ford.
Never let success go to your head: never let failure get to your heart. Anonymous

WHAT MAKES YOUR BUSINESS STAND OUT FROM THE REST?
I book time into the appointment so that asking questions and checking people out doesn’t interfere with their table time. When you book a 2 hour massage, you get 2 hours of table time; not an hour & 50 minutes. Please keep this in mind when making plans after your session.

THANK YOU TERI FOR SHARING! BY THE WAY, THAT HENRY FORD IS MY FAVORITE!
