Happy New Year !
And just like that… The Holidays are over, and so is 2024!
Bring on the year of the SNAKE!
If you were born in 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, 1965, 1953, or 1941… it is YOUR year. (woo hoo for my son Brock, born in 2001)
The Chinese Lunar New Year begins on the 29th and celebrations go on for 15 days.
I am excited for this year! I know it’s going to be full of change and growth.
How many of you have been plugging away toward success on your New Year’s resolutions?
I have committed to reading more, running more, and eating healthier. So far, so good! I’ve already read four books ( by putting away social media and picking up a good read instead) and increased my daily miles running. Reading labels is key to my education on healthier eating. Ultra-processed foods are not on my menu this year—at all!

If change is what y’all are craving for the near or semi-near future here are some of the musts do’s or haves for 2025!

Fashion!
The top fashion trends for this year are:
1. SkinnIER jeans! But thank goodness this is a “slow” trend to take off. We are expected to see this on the catwalks in all Fashion Shows coming Spring/Summer, but reports also quote to say, “Wide-leg jeans very much remain the dominant silhouette.”
Phew. I love my “high water” (my brother calls them) wide-leg jeans—they’re so comfy!
2. Denim on denim
Pairing a denim shirt over denim pants or shorts is the hottest thing coming into the new year. It’s so much easier than wearing those denim jumpsuits!
3. Sporty Athleisure
This trend has me so excited! Last spring, my brother gifted me his New York Yankee high school starter jacket. I know he gave it to me because he knows what a fan I am and wanted to clean out his closet… little did he know he was giving away a trend-setting piece
Start thinking of what team you cheer on or would if you cared… find a hat, sweat suit, jacket, or all the above, and walk around with confidence and style! ( Go Yankees…sorry I couldn’t help myself)

4. Stripes with Stripes. I love the chaos of pairing patterns with patterns, so I am delighted to hear stripes of any direction, size, and color complement another piece of clothing of different stripes/patterns! |
|
5. Boho!
Can I get a woooo hoooo? I am absolutely in love with bohemian fashion! After coveting Blake Lively’s wardrobe in “It Ends In Us,” I hid away in my sewing room and made a pair of drapey-pattern linen pants, long circle skirts, and short pleated fun mini dresses. They are so easy to wear and ultra chic!

Hair!
The top trends that we all will be seeing for 2025 are:
1. Ultra Short Bob
A few years ago, the LOB came out… fast and furious (Long Bob, hitting right below the shoulder), then The French Bob made its way “up” in the world ( one length or tattered layers right around the jaw). This year, the bob is forecasted to continue up the hairline… I am getting giddy thinking of cutting this… I wore this cut for the first time in Paris when I was 21. It brings back all the feels when I see a client wearing it around!
First time on the top of the Eiffel Tower.. I fell in LOVE at this moment |

2. Brushed out waves
Beach waves are still super cool girl style (especially while wearing Boho fashion, of course), but back are the iron-curled waves then brushed out for that ” I woke up this gorgeous” look. If you’re not sure how to achieve this, book an appointment. It would be my pleasure to style your hair this way!
3. Side Parts! Can I get a “hallelujah”? I am one of the few people who just couldn’t pull off that very popular, famous straight middle part. Side parts are on the rise!
4. ’90s Tousled Updos! The French twists or high, messy ponytails are replacing the top knot!
5.Bangs! Thank you Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter. Bangs are cool again.. just when I grew them out.. I love me some bangs! So classic and ageless (covering up wrinkles.. Ive always said.. Bangs or Botox!)

Thank you!
I want to thank all of you for supporting my small business. Whether you have graced my doorstep for years or just once, I want you to know how much I value your loyalty. I love what I do and appreciate each person who sits in my chair. Please remember that each dollar that goes to ANY small business puts food on the table, provides tuition for school, clothes that are appropriate for the weather, gas in the car, etc.
I encourage you to buy products from salons rather than Amazon or big box stores, coffee from the local coffee stand, art from the students at the art walk, jewelry from the craft show, and fresh produce from the farmers market. These are just a few examples of giving back to the community rather than the bazillionaire who won’t give you a huge smile, appreciation, and a sincere thank you!

On that note… I am preparing my taxes for 2024. This is a task I start to dread every November. BUT… I have to say that my accountant is simply the best. She is not only so kind and funny and has been doing it for decades, but she also makes it less “painful.” She sits me down; some years, it can take HOURS, going over every little thing, making sure she or I haven’t missed anything. So, if you are looking for an account for personal or business taxes, please keep her in mind… she’s terrific.
Here is her info!
